NIBS Recommended Exemption Graduate Enrollment Guide 2016
First、The Introduction Of NIBS(http://www.manfenghanlong.com )
The foundation of NIBS is to promote the development of China's life sciences, whose task is to carry out basic research, foster outstanding research talents, while explore new international operating mechanism that is suitable for research and development in China.
NIBS is dedicated to cultivate top-class students by tapping their internal potential and teach students in accordance of their aptitude. NIBS will endeavor to cultivate students with active mind and sharp critical thinking and develop their research capability and laboratory capacity. Students are encouraged to build up their academic communication skills in formal speech and writing skills as well as informal communication skills; researchers are supported to communicate equally regardless of their academic title, providing opportunities for them all learning from the well-known and leading scientists directly. NIBS has been and always will be trying its own best efforts to train large quantities graduate students with the level equivalent to US life sciences graduate students.
NIBS is governed by its The Board of Trustees (BOT), which is responsible for institute policy and consists of representatives from eight agencies, including the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the Ministry of Education (MOE), the Ministry of Health (MOH), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NNSFC), and the Beijing Municipal Government. MOST and the Beijing Municipal Government are primarily responsible for overseeing the operation of NIBS and provide the major sources of funding.
In April 2003, the BOT accepted the recommendation of the SAB and appointed Dr. Xiaodong Wang, a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and a biochemist and cell biologist from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
NIBS now have more than 20 research laboratories and 12 core facilities here. The 20 research laboratories are as followed:Xiaodong Wang's lab、Feng Shao's lab、Minmin Luo's lab、Rongwen Xi's lab、Lilin Du's lab、Niu Huang's lab、Wenhui Li's lab、Mengqiu Dong's lab、Xinjian He's lab、Wanzhong He's lab、Liang Chen's lab、Zhiyuan Zhang's lab、Liping Wei's lab、E. Erquan Zhang's lab、Tao Wang's lab、Jianhua Sui's lab、Xiangshu Jin's lab、Ting Chen's lab、Nan Tang's lab.12 core facilities following as:Translational Research Center、Imaging Facility、 Transgenic Animal Center、Proteomics Facility、Antibody Center、 Chemistry Center、Sequencing Center、Biological Research Center、Metabolomics Center、Biological Resource Center、Animal and Plant Center.
By the adoption of advanced management mode in line with international standards, NIBS has converged a large number of world-class scientists which research areas covering neurobiology, developmental biology, structure biology, stem cells, virology, human genetics, botany, computational biology, synthetic and medicinal chemistry, and many other popular areas of the life sciences. Until now NIBS has published total of more than 250 scientific papers, with an average SCI impact factor of 10.96, where 8 papers on Cell, 12 on Nature and 9 on Science. A large number of jump-start young academic scientists made their figures on international stages, many of them get international awards like young Scientist Award by HHMI, young Scientist Award by Protein Society and other domestic awards like ZHOU Guangzhao Foundation Award, Outstanding Young scientists and so on.
In personnel training, adhering to the interest-oriented, NIBS teach students in accordance of their aptitude and encourage teachers and students to exchange research ideas equally to create a relaxed academic atmosphere. NIBS was the first to adopt rotation internships for both teachers and students in our country to provide a platform for two-way selection. Annual Conference, the summer camp student activities and other academic exchange activities held regularly every year at NIBS. More than 50 high-level academic lectures were held for students providing them a broad space to learn. By the end of 2014, NIBS has 360 graduate students, doctoral students 181, master's 15, among which won awards like "Ray Wu Scholarship", "Johnson Asian Elite Life Science Graduate Paper Award" and " National Scholarships " and other honors. Nearly 70 percent of graduates enter famous universities abroad to continue their studies, 20 percent remain in the domestic scientific research institutions and others serve into the foreign companies engaged in the development, marketing or technical support work.
